Chris Matthews Hosts Presidential Candidates Barack Obama and John McCain
In the spring of 2008, Starlite Productions provided production support to Light Fantastic who was contracted to light the set for MSNBC’s live broadcast of the “Hardball College Tour” with Chris Matthews.
The show gave then presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain an opportunity to reach out to some of our nation’s young people at Villanova and West Chester Universities. Given the limited rigging options in both venues, Starlite’s role was to create a self-climbing truss rig to resemble a studio grid thereby giving the producers the greatest degree of flexibility possible for the lighting positions. Starlite also supplied the lighting desk and portable dimming for the tour.
During the live broadcast, Starlite had security-cleared technicians waiting in the wings wearing fall protection harnesses who were prepared to perform service on the lighting rig during a commercial break in the event that a lamp replacement or touch-up focus were required.
