Marian Anderson Awards

The Marian Anderson Award honors artists whose leadership on behalf of a humanitarian cause or issue benefits society.  Created in 1998, the Award is named in memory of the legendary singer and distinguished Philadelphian, Marian Anderson.

The annual black-tie award gala and concert held at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts features exciting stars that come together to celebrate the achievement of the honoree as well as a performance by the internationally renowned Philadelphia Orchestra.

Past Honorees of the Award have included:  Mia Farrow, Bill Cosby, Maya Angelou, Norman Lear, Richard Gere, Gregory Peck, Sidney Poitier, Oprah Winfrey, Quincy Jones and Elizabeth Taylor.
